FAQs

Need help choosing a plate? Start with our How It Works guide, or contact us with your question.

What is the difference between the three plate styles?

Classic Raised-Letter Plate — $29.95
Choose a solid plate color. Your letters are vacuum-formed directly into the polystyrene (plastic) plate—not embossed metal.

Flat Sublimated Plate — $34.95
Choose a background from our catalog or upload your own. Your background and any added wording are printed flat, with no raised lettering.

Sublimated Background + Raised Lettering — $39.95
Choose a background from our catalog or upload your own. The background is printed flat, then a separate clear plastic overlay with vacuum-formed raised letters is placed on top.

The raised-letter overlay is separate from the protective cover. These are novelty/display plates, not government-issued registration plates. See how they’re made.

Raised lettering accepts letters A–Z, numbers 0–9 and spaces only. Car plates allow one line of up to 10 characters. Motorcycle plates allow up to three lines of 9 characters each; the top and bottom lines are optional, equal in size, and smaller than the middle line. Each letter, number and space counts as one character, including W and M. Flat printed text does not use these raised-letter limits.

These prices apply to car and motorcycle plate styles before tax. U.S. Economy shipping is free. Engraved frames have their own options and prices.

Can I upload a design without adding words?

Yes. A flat printed plate (2D sublimation) can be an image-only design, including artwork that already contains words. Extra printed text is optional. Raised-letter character limits are listed above; printed text boxes can be added and positioned in the sublimation builder.

How long does production take?

Custom orders are made in 1–3 business days. Shipping transit time is additional.

How is the custom text positioned on the plate?

Raised lettering is centered by default on both classic plates and sublimated backgrounds with raised lettering. Requests to change its placement are subject to vacuum-forming and letter-size limits. For flat sublimation, you can move, resize and rotate printed text boxes. Review the final preview carefully before ordering.

What comes with my plate?

Every plate includes a clear protective cover, a frame, and four bolts as part of the final assembly. The protective cover goes over the finished plate; it is a separate part from the clear raised-lettering overlay used on sublimated-background raised-letter designs.

Can I request special customizations?

Yes! If you have special customization requests, please contact us with details. If you’ve already placed an order, include your Order ID, and we’ll do our best to bring your vision to life.

Are these real license plates?

No, these are novelty plates and are not registered with the DMV. They should not be used as official license plates.

Are there any legal restrictions on using these plates?

Please check your local and state laws regarding decorative or novelty license plates before use.

Can you mix custom colors?

Yes, we can mix colors! However, since all mixing is done by hand, we cannot guarantee a perfect color match.

Is the raised-lettering overlay the same as the protective cover?

No. The clear raised-lettering overlay carries the vacuum-formed raised letters and sits over a flat sublimated background. The background itself is not molded. The clear protective cover is a separate outer covering that protects the finished plate. Solid-color raised-letter plates have the letters formed directly into the plate itself.

Can I get more customization options in person?

Yes! We offer far more customization options in person, including extra design choices that are not available online. We encourage you to visit us at the events we attend to explore more options.
